Cerritos YMS Welcomes Two New Additions to the Family!
Cerritos Yamaha Music School is proud to announce two new additions to our teaching roster, Mr. Enrique Higa and Ms. Joy Chen. Both were selected for their expert pedagogic abilities, performance expertise, and attention to each student's individual progress. With over 40 years of combined teaching experience, we are certain both teachers will fulfill your student's learning goals!
Mr. Enrique Higa
Mr. Enrique Higa received his B.A. in Classical Vocal in 1995 and Master of Music in Music Education in 2000 at California State University Los Angeles. In 2005, he received a Masters of Arts in Worship Leadership degree at Azusa Pacific University. In addition to his 23 years of teaching experience and a current position facilitating after school program for the LA Unified School District, Mr. Enrique also is the Music Minister at Green Hills Baptist Church in La Habra and CEO at Conservatorio de Musica Adoración y Artes, a Los Angeles non-profit association that caters to the local Hispanic Community. Mr. Enrique specializes in traditional classical and commercial vocals, as well as all Latin styles including Salsa, Cumbia, Merengue, and Latin Pop. Mr.. Enrique will be available for Mondays and Fridays private and group lessons. He will also be teaching our Toddler Fun course (2 & 3 yrs old) on Mondays, 5 pm. Ms. Joy Chen
Yamaha Music School is honored to have Ms. Joy Chen as our new piano teacher! She has been teaching piano for over 25 years, after receiving her Bachelor of Music from from Tunghai University in Taiwan. She studied Piano Pedagogy and accompaniment at Westminster Choir College as well. Ms. Joy enjoys spending time with children and encourages her students to perform for the community. She often leads the children and adult choir at her church. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, cleaning, and traveling with her family. Ms. Joy will be booking piano lessons for Tuesdays, with possible other days to come!
